1. Overview The Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) has been working in partnership with the City of Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy(WPC), The Heinz Endowments, the Allegheny Land Trust, area residents and others to make the Grand View Scenic Byway Park (GVSBP), Pittsburgh's fifth great regional park, a reality. In the last year, the City has passed legislation creating the 264 acre GVSBP, identified MWCDC and City as "co-stewards" of the Park, and preserved an additional 16 acres of sensitive open space known as the "Saddle." The WPC and MWCDC finished a GVSBP Master Implementation Plan (MIP) that serves as the short term blue-print for Park development. Thank you to the Richard King Mellon Foundation for their support of GVSBP. RK Mellon awarded MWCDC $100,000 to fund one of the GVSBP Pilot Projects outlined in the MIP. |
