Emerald View Park

Created in December 2005 by a unanimous vote of Pittsburgh's City Council, and declared a Regional Park by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl on Earth Day 2007, Pittsburgh's newest regional park has finally found a name worthy of Pittsburgh's remarkable green renaissance.

Following an intensive community process that included a public voting period, on June 02, 2010 Pittsburgh's City Coucil approved the new name, Emerald View Park.  The name is symbolic both of Pittsburgh's growing green identity as well as the literal green rebirth of this 235 acre park on Mount Washington, created on what was once heavily industrialized and mined land. The Park, with over 1 million visitors a year, offers spectacular views of downtown Pittsburgh, the City's three rivers, and the region's green hillsides.
